Program Director

Sugar Creek is seeking a passionate, experienced leader to coordinate a variety of vibrant summer Bible camp and retreat ministry programs. In a vast, beautiful 660-acre facility, the Program Director brings the camp mission to life for our guests, inspiring adventurous and meaningful experiences of the gospel to participants of all ages.

This position oversees a large, energetic summer staff managing a variety of outdoor adventure programs for youth in grades K-12 and families. 

The Program Director also represents and builds ministry relationships across the Midwest, serving with leaders in churches and communities to create custom, meaningful retreat experiences. 

After 59 years Sugar Creek continues providing relevant, innovative, uniquely immersive programs. Today, the gatherings oversee by the Program Director are needed more than ever by children, families, churches, and communities. Sugar Creek guides over 50,000 contact hours of intentional Christian education annually for children and youth, facilitating the shared retreat and summer camp ministries of over 100 congregations of the ELCA and other partner churches.

Retreat Host

Now accepting applications for Fall 2026. Retreat Hosts are directly involved with Hospitality ministry. This is a paid 1-year (or shorter if arranged) internship with housing and offers opportunities for hospitality coordination and implementation, facility setup, activity leadership, program design, and more. 

Within a Christian community of year-round staff, energetic campers, financial supporters, gracious guests and world-class volunteers, the Retreat Host helps a team serve the needs of churches and private retreat groups throughout the year. Experiences for youth, families, and custom guest stays are all hosted in this beautiful 660-acre Bible camp valley.

Focus may vary based on the camp’s needs in each season and on your interests for developing skills for a successful career in ministry, hospitality, or program leadership.

Housing, utilities, biweekly stipend, frequent meals, paid training, and opportunities to attend professional gatherings are provided.

Program Management Internship

The Program Management Intern gains first-hand work experience in designing and implementing an exciting range of ministries. This paid internship offers training and a variety of professional experiences pursuant to a career in Christian program leadership at a camp, church, nonprofit, or mission-based community. In addition, the intern is provided with onsite housing, utilities, trainings, a weekly stipend, frequent meals, and professional conference attendance.

This person assists with planning and leading innovative programs for faith formation and life skill development. This person also assists with onsite ministry retreats 1-2 times per month by hosting, preparing, and leading experiences through the school year. Use and grow your gifts of cooperative imagining, invitation, administration, and program leadership in a beautiful 660-acre Bible camp that serves 120+ congregations.

This position is a paid internship with housing and utilities. Duties may vary somewhat based on program needs and also your own interests for developing your professional skills for a vocation in fields of ministry, hospitality, and program leadership.
